Char cool

Smoke dripped from the soffit in angry little bursts of energy. Dissipating like so many tiny magicians turning on their heels and disappearing in a poof and a cape twirl. Slow quiet screams sang from the wood as the heat seeped its way up and out and over and under. Sharp cracks and clicks joined in as the fire licked deliciously on its meal. Long into the ashes and embers now. A fast heartbeat murmured in the red white dance as the heat carried away little messages seen on the coals. A brisk wind came to drag the ashes and look for what was lost. Not yet found, impatiently stirred to rifle. New ashes snowed dow to settle. Off white now blackened with soot and smoke. Curls finalized and the screams ran away. Quiet now. Like the heavy blanket of a new snow. Disintegration for the sake of it. Transformed and carried to another place at another time.
